Amelia-Whiteman-Biography

Amelia was born in Wellington, New Zealand and her love of music began by singing in choirs as a young girl. After learning to play the piano and the viola, she says her turning point was getting the chance to sing the solo in Once In Royal David’s City for a School Carol Service. A school trip also gave her the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sing solo on the stage of the Sydney Opera House – an experience she’s never forgotten.

Legal studies called for a while, but Amelia didn’t enjoy law and decided to go travelling. She joined her friends in the UK and decided that if she got a place to study singing then she must be destined to follow that path. The singer studied post graduate classical voice at the Royal College of Music followed by a diploma at the Flanders Opera Studio in Gent, Belgium.
